October Newsletter 2018

TGIA’s Latest & Greatest.

Thank you for subscribing to Talented Girls In Action’s monthly newsletter. We appreciate your interest in our organization. This month our girls served their community by participating in a service project. Our guest speaker for this month, Gary McFadden, discussed the importance of the anti-bullying initiative in CMS. Sugar-Free Talk with Gary McFadden
Gary McFadden, the newly proclaimed sheriff of CMS, was TGIA’s guest speaker. During his discussion, Gary helped our girls understand how bullying can lead to violence in schools. He was also able to share stories about victims of bullying, from his time served as a detective in the CMS Police Department.
Gary helped our girls identify the different stages of bullying, as well as highlighting the negative effects of long term. Through this discussion, our girls learned the necessary actions to take, in order to speak out against bullying in their school

Serving the Community
North Carolina has been hit by some devastating storms lately. The most recent storm, Hurricane Micheal, caused some major damage to the city. Our girls decided it was important to help the community by cleaning up debris in a local park. We had an amazing time serving the community.

TGIA Student of the Month!
We would like to recognize Margret as the TGIA student of the month for her commitment to excellence. Currently, she as all A’s and one B in her classes. She has shown integrity and committed acts of service in and outside the classroom. Over the course of our program, she has become more confident in her abilities to lead and inspire others. We are extremely proud of Margret’s accomplishments.

Our outstanding volunteer is Constance Darrington. This is the first time she has volunteered with our organization, but she is an absolute rock star. She currently works for Charter Communications as a Sr. Human Resource Generalist. Constance has worked in Human Resources for 12 years. Constance chose to mentor with TGIA because she wanted to work with an organization with a focus of impacting the lives of children. She is consistent and passionate about being a mentor.
