Why We Serve
In the United States 1 in 4 girls do not graduate with their high school diploma. Dropping out of high school seriously jeopardizes the well-being of these girls, their families and our society. Talented Girls In Action was founded to motivate, educate, inspire, and strengthen girls between the ages of 12 to 18. Through our organization we strive to diminish the dropout rates in the schools we partner with. In August of 2017 our program will be implemented in at least one school in North Carolina.
What We Offer
Our after school program provides mentor-ships, tutoring, character development and enrichment opportunities to girls that come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Mentors: TGIA mentors are local career women who are strong leaders in the community. These women have similar backgrounds or can emphasize with the girls in our program. Mentors are assigned based on the individual career choice of each girl.
Tutors: TGIA tutors are collegiate students, teachers, or volunteers that are willing to provide academic support to the girls in our program. Each girl has a individualized tutor based on their academic needs. Tutors provide a brief progress report of the success of each girl.
Volunteers: TGIA volunteers are women and men who believe in the mission of the program and are willing to support or assist in any capacity they can.
